Posted: 31 May 2009

dsc007411 The Baha'i Cemetery of near the Village of Ayval on the Kiasar-Sari road has been placed for auction, in order to be converted to residential property.

This cemetery is more than 100 years old, and this auction has been announced in 2 national papers, Hamshahry and Iran.

In 1983 under severe pressure and persecution 20 Baha'i families living in Ayval were forced to leave, leaving all their property, personal belonging, and houses behind. This is a small farming community. Despite their attempt to seek a court order to return they have been denied and their homes have mostly been destroyed or burnt.

Now their 100 year old cemetery is being put up for auction.
